Sunglasses

Maybe you wear them to look cool because you live in some kind of alternate cyber reality Maybe you find bright sunlight makes you uncomfortable. Maybe you just stare at people, and don’t want them knowing about it.

Fanboys, vampires, stalkers, they all love their shades. But there are a few important things to know about them.

It may just look like pieces of coated plastic in a frame… But… Yeah, there just coated plastic, in a frame pretty much.

But that little coating’s very important, it’s what gives your sunglasses it’s most important qualities.

First, one coat makes them dark, which is kind of the whole point. Another makes them reflective which means they can’t see you and you can see them. And then there is the one for UV protection, this one is really important because when you wear your sunglasses your eyes dilate to get more visible light in.

If your glasses don’t block out UV light it can damage your eyes. Just make sure your glasses are UV 400, that means it blocks out a hundred percent of ultra violent rays.

There’s also a layer for polarization, I’m only going to say this once polarization reduces glare, polarization is not UV protection.

You can tell if glasses are polarized if by holding them up to another pair you know are polarized and slowly turning them, as you look through things should become lighter and darker.

The same rotating test works when you look a reflected light, like glare of the water or the hood of a car.

And then there are all sorts of other coating for glasses, anti-fogging, anti-itching, no anti-scratching. Anti-fogging and anti-scratching.

Yes your glasses make you look super cool, but only to a point. Don’t wear’em when your driving at night or breaking up with your girlfriend.

Whether you get hit or you hit someone else, someone’s going to get hit and it’s all your fault.

So feel free to look cool, hide from the sun, or watch all the cuties walk by incognito. Just make sure you don’t mess up your eyes while your doin it. You can’t by a new par of those at the store
