The Kid Who Does The Videos

Tipping November 16th, 2007 Comet Kaboom

Making a show about ourselves may seem narcissistic but every once in a while we get a comment or question thats so important we just have to answer it.

Uh Oh! No video. You will need the Flash player and Javascript enabled to watch this show.

Oh…oh…oh…oh…oh…almost…oh-oh, almost, almost…’Kay, now I’m ready.

Making a show about ourselves may seem narcissistic, but every once and a while, we get a comment or question that’s so important, we just have to answer it. It’s about us!

Mike writes, “What I’d like to know is, who are you folks and how is this funded? Who’s the kid who does the videos and who writes your material? It’s all quite good, don’t get me wrong. I’m just curious to know the story behind the story.”

My brother and I pretty much do it all. We write the scripts and do the majority of the research. Sometimes people send in suggestions with some of the research already done. And we love those people.

Then I act crazy in front of the camera while he stands behind it, waving his arms, and making fun of me. It’s humiliating. And it’s probably why I have such low self-esteem.

And just about everything we say is true. Even the embarrassing stories are true. But they’re not all about me. A lot of them are his; I just have to pretend that it’s me. It’s not really me. And it’s about me, typically. That’s probably why it’s so embarrassing. I hate that.

How’s it funded? That’s easy. Hold on.

There it is: the funding. Betcha never seen that much in one place, huh? Yeah, I’ve gotta put this away.

And that’s pretty much all we’ve got until the Sugar Mamma Corporation comes a-calling. Thankfully, we do have a sponsor. So we do have the potential to make big money without selling out. Although selling out is very appealing.

Next question: Who’s the kid who does the videos. Who’re you calling a kid, him or me? If you want to know more about me, I enjoy exercise, bike rides, and long, romantic walks on the beach…ladies.

Now about my kid brother over there. You’ll never see him on camera-at least that’s what he says. Some people believe photographs take away a piece of your spirit. He actually thinks it takes away a bit of your dignity.

And the only time so far you can hear him say anything is the word “tiger” at the end of the outtake from Homemade DVDs. Listen closely: (Playback plays with Camera Guy saying “Tiger” very softly) That’s it.

Well, that should answer all your questions, Mike. No, wait! There’s the “story-behind-the-story” part. Well, it all started one day as we discussed the Do’s and Don’ts of purchasing a car on a credit card. (Sounds of Fast-forwarding). I guess the reason in the end that we’re doing this is the same reason that everyone else is: No one in Hollywood would buy our movie script. It’s true. Stop laughing.

There’s only one more thing you ought to know. You see, we film me from the waist up, so you never know what I’m wearing. Could be pants, could be shorts-that’s our teleprompter-You’re never going to know. It’s going to keep you up at night.
