Easter DVD

Easter has come and gone, but you can still find hidden eggs.

Uh Oh! No video. You will need the Flash player and Javascript enabled to watch this show.

Easter’s come and gone, but you can still find hidden eggs – and not the nasty, leftover ones from the holiday’s. I’m talking about the ones on your TV. Deanna wrote in and asked us about DVD Easter Eggs. What are they? How do they come to be? And how do you find them?

While rabbits and electronic media aren’t known to mate naturally in the wild, somehow electronic media producers have managed it. Where does this all lead to? Cyber-bunnies. They’ll be a big problem in the future. You should not tamper with nature.

When a DVD menu’s made, you have to put buttons on the screen. But there’s a catch – the button’s invisible. It’s totally separate from the cool movie clip or the text or the picture that represents the button. This means it’s possible to have a button on a DVD without anything on the screen to show it. Just like hiding Easter candy from small children, the idea of a DVD Easter Egg is to make it invisible. ’cause you want people to go looking for it, and draining time out of people’s lives is amusing! “Stinkin’…always making it impossible to find an Easter Egg… ooh!”

So here’s how to find ‘em: whenever you’re looking at a DVD menu, a button HAS to be selected. Use the arrow keys on your remote control to just fish for one. Just move it up and down and around and around until you find something that looks like nothing, and then click on that one.

Now, not all DVDs have Easter Eggs. Just like not all candy tastes good at Easter. We have a couple of websites listed below to help you find the hidden secrets in your DVD collection.

Easter Eggs means bunnies, and bunnies means candy. And how that association came about, I have no idea, ’cause if you’ve ever seen what comes out of the back of a bunny… NOT candy. It’s small and it kinda looks like candy, and there may even be a creamy filling, but… it’s not chocolate. But there is a surprise.

And how those little rabbit pellets turned into candy, I don’t know. How they got on DVDs is even more mysterious. But I think it was due to bored programmers. I think that’s how it happened.

People have always felt the need to share secrets and jokes with others. It’s especially fun when you get to put it into a video, knowing that if they looked hard enough, they’d find it and be pleasantly surprised. And everyone who didn’t look would have no idea that it was there. It’s like being part of a secret club or a special society. You know things that nobody else does.

DVDs aren’t the only electronic media with Easter Eggs. They’re also prevalent in software, video games, and giant search engines. They really are everywhere, I mean…the hunt continues. These eggs are so hard to find! [blows on DVD]

You know, if I laid little chocolate candies, I’ll bet you wouldn’t eat ‘em.

If found one on Yahoo Mail, if you press the subject button next to where you enter a subject. It gives you a funny eye catching subject.

This may be a bit late, but not only do DVD's have easter eggs, but computer programs and games do too. Just a google search away.

I hope your not speaking from experience in regards to bunnies not making candy lol. I had no idea though that there were hidden features in some of my DVD's. Now I have to know what I never even knew existed before, lol.

Sorry, we're getting way too much spam.
