Hail To The Chief

How Gross Is Your Salary April 16th, 2008

Hail to the chief. That's the happy song they play for the president.

Uh Oh! No video. You will need the Flash player and Javascript enabled to watch this show.

Hail to the chief. It’s that’s the happy song they play for the president. But some people out there aren’t too happy about our current president. I bet they’d rather hail him a taxi cab and get him out of White House.

If you’re like most Americans that have heard him speak you probably think he has the IQ of a 2nd grader and you’re wondering who is behind the evil conspiracy that put him in charge of our country. Public speaking is a huge part of politics. How could someone like George W Bush even get into a prominent political position without being able to properly construct a single sentence? How?!

Now while I don’t agree with a lot of his policy, [Cough] “Homeland security” I’m going to take a fair and objective look at this because I am rational human being, not Michael Moore.

After all, he wasn’t always an idiot, was he? I can remember several times news articles and sound bites from his first term where he displayed good critical thinking skills and a health amount of common sense.

But as Americans we have the collective memory of a goldfish that rediscovers it’s political bowl every few seconds.

[Rediscovering bowl] Hey, I’m in a bowl. Wait this is a bowl. I’m in a bowl. Is that a bowl.

It turns out President Bush wasn’t always such a screw up with the English language. But he’s always been rotten with French.

His public speaking skills and overall mental acuity seem to have taken a significant slide between 1994 and 2004. And if you watch the difference side by side it is staggering. Have a look.

[Clip of President Bush in 1994 debate:] I know we need to expand the determinate sentincing statutes in the state of texas. We need to have boot camps, reform schools, and detention centers. We should expand the Texas youth commision by 15000 beds. We ought to unseal juvenile records so that teachers, educators, and law enforcement officials know full well who they are dealing with. We need to say to our children we love you but we understand in Texas that discipline and love go hand in hand.

[Clip of President Bush in 2004 debate:] …funding for um… uh… for uh… dealing with nuclear proliferation. About 30% since I’ve been the President. And Secondly, uh we’ve set up what’s called the… well first of all I agree with the… my opponent that the… bigest threat facing this country is weapons of mass destruction in the hands of a terrorist network. And that’s why I… we’ve put proliferation as the… one of the center pieces of a multi prong strategy to make the country safer.

There’s a short video that juxtaposing eloquent George with dumb W. We have a link to it below.

The video draws an very interesting conclusion. And if you don’t pause now and go watch the other one I am going to spoil it for you. … times up! President Bush may be suffering pre-senile dementia. That could explain a lot!
Some people think its alcohol catching up with him, or that he is just tired and warn out from being President, others that he had a mild stroke. Which is it? I don’t know. But we’ll put in a few more links in case you want to read more about it.

The original story aired 4 years ago. So why am I just hearing about it now? I mean, why hasn’t it been discussed more openly? Here’s my theory. Democrats would rather have you think he is – and always was – stupid. After all, if they bring out that he is suffering from some illness or disability they can’t make fun of him anymore. ‘Cause It’s not politically correct to make fun of people with disabilities.

It’s kind of like kicking a puppy. The most powerful puppy in the world.

And republicans don’t want to point out that their leader may be “operating at less than 100%” either. There’s a great idea, take a shot at your figurehead.

What? What did I say?… Take a shot? No! We don’t mean that literally.

Hail to the chief.

It’s like shooting a puppy. The most powerful puppy in the world.

So where does this leave us? Maybe with a President that has pre-senile dementia. Which means the world’s most powerful man is suffering from a severe mental handicap. Just thought you ought to know.

Goldfish actually have a memory of longer than a few seconds. People have proved this by training goldfish to do tricks or go through a maze to find food. If their memory only lasted a few seconds, there would be no way they could be trained because they would forget ... more

He's still the President and we put him there. I'm more worried now about who's going to be in there next.

im a republican and ill admitt it! i always thought his speaking had changed. but im gonna have to flame responsibly on this because i think you just bashed the president for call him an idiot was it? or was that just my imagination? ill watch the video again, but i just cant justify calling him that regardless if his speaking has changed. i guess im just bothered by how many people bas him so it easily sets me off. but not one of your best videos. i do agree with some of it but most of it got me ... lots more

Truth, most of US's presidents have something wrong with them at some point. Kind of makes it part of the job I think.

Maybe he's just getting the media's goat. Or maybe, that's just how normal people talk. They stutter and fumble over their words. Whatever happened to the notion that self-government meant government by citizens, no elites, in positions of power? (How much have Hillary and Barack spent in their campaign against ... more

Brian, thanks for writing in. Check out the supporting linked articles and video on our website. They may help with some of the objections you have with our video. but comparing those two clips is pretty much comparing apples and oranges. One was a prepared speech and one was a debate. Both clips are purportedly unscripted speaking in public debates. Public speaking is not a very good way to judge someone's intelligence. Agreed. But if you watch the linked video, there is also footage of a large faut-pas made in a speech by Pres. Bush - a speech where there ... lots more

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say he could be suffering presenile dementia based on those clips. Not saying he's not but comparing those two clips is pretty much comparing apples and oranges. One was a prepared speech and one was a debate. Public speaking is not a very good way to judge someone's intelligence. There are very smart people who are lousy public speakers and visa versa. It's better to judge a person on his ideas rather than his oratory skills. I don't agree with Bush on a lot of things but I'll give him credit ... lots more

The "guy behind the camera" said I could write a post this long. ;-) It is not the first time something like this has happened. Democrats used to mock Reagan about his bad memory. He even joked about it himself. Then it turned out he had Alzheimer's and the jokes stopped. Bush is (or at least was) smarter than Kerry. He got better grades at Yale and took harder classes. On the one hand, no one wants a president with little or no experience (although the Democrats sure seem to this time around). ... lots more
