Have you ever heard of a schizotype?
You know about schizophrenics, right? They’re crazy.
No we’re not.
Yes we are.
Really?
It’s a psychological disorder marked by severely impaired thinking, emotions, and behaviors. And no it doesn’t always mean that you have multiply personalities inside you.
No we don’t.
Yes we do.
Maybe – sometimes – I don’t know.
And it’s hard to tell whose crazy…’cause they look just like you and me. But have you ever heard of schizotype? It’s an eccentric that remains somewhere in between a normal person and a schizophrenic. They’re the oddballs, the geeky ones that get made fun of in school. Maybe you.
You know, they’re the ones that seem a little off but manage to fit in into society somewhere. The kind of people who refuse to wear socks or…constantly read their own poetry to themselves.
In 2005, a study was done involving schizophrenics, schizotypes, and normals. That’s people like you and me. No, like you. I’m…creative. I’m not normal because you’re going to find out being not normal is cool.
They map the brain activity of all three groups and asked them to perform different creative activities. Like, here’s some car keys. Now make up new uses for ‘em.

The end results were that schizotypes came out on top. It seems as if they were better at accessing both halves of their brain and that gave them a terrific advantage in thinking of new associations for normal objects.
Our conclusion? Acting crazy may just give you the advantage you need. But not too crazy. Just crazy enough…so they don’t take you away…
All sorts of crazy people throughout history did crazy things. That’s why there’s a very common association between genius and insanity. You’re not just mad: you’re a Mad Genius.
The whole thinking outside the box might start inside your brain.
Thinking…hmmm…
Oh, and by the way, Einstein very rarely wore socks ’cause, you know, they were a waste of time.
Socks are for crazy people!
