Dun da da dun! my first post! and it shall be to denounce the evils of riding a bike in cold weather without first pumping up the tires, as semi-flat tires combined with an um, less than dainty frame, make for some tough riding. good exercise though. :-)

Buying from a bike store is good. I got a lovely hybrid mountain/comfort bike at one, with a nicely bouncy seat. Which someone promptly stole. My cheap replacement hasn’t been nearly as comfortable.

I used to ride road bikes, as in race them. I kills your lower back, and your shoulders too. It hurts. :(

Love the cheesy accent! Thanks for the info. With the ever increasing cost of fuel, more people are riding bikes. I have a 25 year old racing Schwinn, while my husband has a 25 year old Fuji. We use them solely for exercise purposes. Soul Sister, check out Kmart for affordable bikes, your local classifieds, or a yard sale. Some people unload their bikes for very small amounts of money. Take a spin on one and see how you like it.

But seriously–awesome show. As I am a poor college student, I think my next big investment is going to be a bike. I had no idea what the difference between the different styles was until today! I’m glad I know it now. :)

Ditto, nice accent bruthuh.
I can vouch that this really good advice. I bought my first real bike [Trek 6000] last September. There’s no comparison to a big box store bike. And when i was testing bikes in the store, you can feel a difference in performance and comfort from the 500 and 800 dollar bikes.
