Anyone here ever seen the TV show "Good Eats"? The host, Alton Brown, is a kind of cooking version of Bill Nye. Anyway, in his episode on cooking whole fish he uses turkey lifters (which really aren't that great for lifting turkeys) to move the fish to a platter and he pauses to ask, "Is there a word for a tool that's terrible at what it's made for, but works great for lots of other stuff?" I guess duct tape is that word, too. :)

Turned out that's really something I ought to know. Thank you guys! I went and got some duct take last week and while looking for it started talking to the saled person about it. I barely escaped the embarresment of calling it duck tape, thanks to your show ;) Didn't even know before that it's not called duck tape, but I guess that's because I only heard people say it up until now, and never owned it. Plus, I'm not a native speaker, which gives me some freedom for wrong pronunciation ;)

See, duct tape now is actually a kind of sticky tinfoil tape. It works wonderfully on ducts in all conditions and almost never comes off!

are you still going to do the underground? I like those videos too! I love duct tape. One time I was a duct tape debuty. I protect the usage of duct tape! don’t ask… haha.

When I was in, I think fifth grade, we made a bet with the prinicpal. He lost so we got to duct tape him to the wall of the school gym. I will never forget that!

Here's a wonderful quote that proudly lives on the door of our theatre production shop in college: "Duct Tape is like the force: it has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together." In fact, I'VE been stuck on the wall with duct tape...yup, I was smaller than all my friends...a lot smaller.

I've made tons of stuff out of duct tape. :) Right now I'm putting together a deviantart page with all of mine. (Since I have no computer skills making it impossible for me to make my own website.) I'm currently working on a Chinese Take Out Box. :)

there's this girl in my class that would make a lot of stuff out of colored duct tape like folders, shoes, handbags etc. It was the funniest thing but also very cool =)

Wow has it been 2 weeks? Time flies! Luckily we had the UG episodes to hold of the constant cravings for more episodes. Here in the Midwest we have automobiles called Ducks which are old army machines that can travel both on land and on water. Fun to ride actually, but they don't quack.

The duct tape I use is Duck brand, so I don't feel bad at all when I use a fowl name for it...

In a petting zoo in .nl I saw a duck that had been bathing and was now desperately try to shake water off its back. Poor thing. Now so water-resistant after all.
