So I'm having a little trouble getting into the holiday spirit...
Okay, so I’m having a little trouble getting into the holiday spirit this year. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas. Probably because it’s seventy degrees outside and no one’s sent me any presents. And because I don’t have a Christmas tree. But that’s because when I went to the Christmas tree lot, the trees there were selling for between twenty-five and sixty bucks. Boy, did I go to the wrong lot. Sixty bucks for a tree? That’s not gonna happen. I think I need a cheaper way to get into the holiday mood. Cheap equals free. And something that solves the tree problem too.
Most of what I like about having a tree at Christmas time is the smell. Christmas-it’s like a drug to me. Kids, don’t do pine. Some Christmas tree lots give away the left over cuttings from their trees. It saves them from having to dispose of them all, so if you want your place to smell like pine you could pick up a million of those little Christmas tree air fresheners OR you could go to the lot and pick up a few of these. You bring them home and you pull all the needles of of them, then you get an old beat up pot that you don’t really care about, and you put the needles and some water into the pot and let them boil for, y’know, as long as it takes. Bring it to a boil and then let it go back down to low heat. Faster than you can decideto be naughty or nice, your whole place’ll smell just like Christmas. Maybe you can throw in a few other Christmassy spices.
But don’t let all the water evaporate, or you’ll have a big burning pine needly holiday mess. Only you can prevent Christmas fires. Don’t worry-the smell will last, and last, and last, and last. It’s like the next best thing to having a Christmas tree. And it’s free.
Smell problem, solved, and if you want a free tree, you can take a page from my Grandfather who used to drill holes in the trunk of his Christmas tree to artifically insert branches into the bare patches. So I guess if you’re really amibitious, and cheap, you can get a stick and a whole bunch of free branches and make a Frankentree. This isn’t just good for people with no Christmas tree, it’s good for people whose Christmas tree is made out of plastic. It’s kind of…almost a tree. I dunno, I think it kinda looks like a tree. C’mon, stand up. There ya go.
