No one likes eggnog?! I LOVE eggnog! (store-bought though.) Btw, the stuff you use to soak bread to make french toast tastes like eggnog to! (and, NEVER get eggnog that is called “nog”, cause it just tastes like soybean milk. yech)

Eggnog has egg yolks in it, and yolks don’t carry salmonella unless kept at warn temperatures( but who wants warm eggnog?). Be salmonella free this holiday.

Oh, and egg nog is disgusting. I prefer Wassail, though when we have it they add the alcohol right before serving so minors like myself don’t get any.

Nog is actually pretty cool. Okay not really, but he’s better than his relatives. Oh, I’m talking about the Star Trek dude. He’s actually the nephew of the Ferengi bartender/ barkeeper of the station Deep Space 9, in the Star Trek series “Deep Space 9″. He’s also best friends with the captian’s son, which provides for lots of interesting arguments and such. He’s dad’s also a total idiot…..but he’s a Ferengi, so it’s kind of a given…..yeah, good series though. I prefer Dax though…Jedzida, not Esre

Egg nog makes me want to gag. It smells horrible and tastes horrible. Maybe I’ll tty that wassail stuff. Love the troll by the way, I use to play with those troll dolls when I was a kid. Their crazy hair is just so awesome. (*whispers* its my birthday today >.>)

Well i’m from england and I know no-one thats had egg nog and we’ve only heard of it by watching USA films / episodic televisions shows.

But i’ll definately by trying wassail… looks good, hopefully will taste good.

In Canada the packaging for everything is in French and English, and the French side of the Egg Nog carton says “Lait de Poule” roughly translated to “Milk of Chicken”…. grosssssssss.

I can only drink about 2 gulps of egg nog before it comes bubbling back up. I’ve never had Wassail, sounds made up to me. Anyone else?

There’s another delicious holiday drink! It’s called Russian Tea, which makes sense because it’s not a Russian drink and Russians have never heard of it (trust me– I lived in Russia and know a lot of Russians). It’s 1/3 pineapple juice, 1/3 orange juice, and 1/3 tea, with a bit of cinnamon added, and served hot. It’s DELICIOUS.

While I do love the fat laden, extremely high caloric eggnog, and the sweet but sassy wassail for Christmas, my favorite drink for New Year’s is Martinelli’s Sparkling Cider. My family always called it our “bubbly”. It’s not New Year’s to me until I’ve toasted with a glass of “bubbly”. Cheers.

Sorry for double post, but I just looked it up and “nog” is an archaic word meaning “a stiff drink,” and a “noggin” was the cup in which the “nog” was served. So from there you can assert that eggs+nog=eggnog. But that’s obviously evolved.
