It’s been a long time… Do I look different?
Well, I shaved. I kinda had to – I had a job interview. There’s just nothing like sitting across the table from a guy who’s asking you, “Is this really what you want to do with the rest of your life?” and you find your head’s nodding ‘yes’ even though your brain’s screaming (slowed down) ‘NOOOO!’
A lot of you have been asking what have we been up to. What have we been up to?
Have you ever heard of ‘Cash Cab?’ No, they already have a host for that show, but here’s the short version:
So the guys who do that show contacted us and said, “Hey, we want to do a show with you,” and we said, “Ok.” But then they contacted us back after a lot of back and forth and said, “No, we really don’t want to do a show with you,” which is really strange because they were the ones that came to us and said “We want to do a show with you” in the first place.
The bottom line was, “Don’t call us, we’ll call you. Again.” Which… they won’t.
Strike one, you’re out.
Wait, that’s not how it works.
It is in this game.
But we didn’t give up there. We ended up talking to a bunch of other production companies, including the Discovery channel. Hey, we did all those write ups – we had to pitch it to somebody. We’ve been pitching and no one’s at bat.
I really don’t like this game. I mean, all you do is stand there, stretching, waiting for something to happen. That’s what playing the field’s all about.
Why can’t life just give me what I want? Without any effort on my part? Is that too much to ask?! Boy am I a whiner…
Who you know is very important. And we don’t know anybody. You got to be a player and we’re more like the water boy in the dugout.
So, what’s the new plan? Ha, what isn’t. We entered the show into a film festival where the prize is getting your stuff in front of real TV producers. Yeah, real ones with arms and legs and everything. And there are only four categories. Drama fiction, drama nonfiction, comedy fiction, and comedy nonfiction. Come on, who else is going to enter with comedy nonfiction?
Why so desperate to go mainstream? It’s simple. You see, all the money is mainstream. Do you know how much most podcasters make? *Whispers* Zero. Yeah, they don’t tell you that for a reason.
Ok, enough about our field of dreams. Camera guys got splinters from the bench so it’s time to talk about the show. Our show. You know, the show that’s on break? Was on break. Are we still on break?
Just try and think of the past few months as a really long seventh inning stretch. With no singing. [Sings]
So we’ve had a few suggestions made: start putting up user content, make a DVD or a cool new intro that will bring in millions of views.

So we’re making a DVD with a bunch of our favorites and four, will-never-be-seen-online episodes. Unless some little, dirty internet pirate rips it and then uploads it. We’re sending Mickey after you.

Here’s the catch: There’s always a catch. If enough of you preorder the DVD then we’ll be able to make the DVDs and keep the show alive over the summer. You win, we win, everybody wins. It’s like tee-ball.
Right now our batting average is like ninety-six which sounds really good… except it’s not out of a hundred.

If they did it in volumes they would have to sell 150 of each volume to cover the production costs of each independent volume, so we would just be right back where we are now.

Here's just a thought...since it looks like it might take a while to get those 650 DVDs ordered to keep the show afloat for a few months, what if you sold 2 or 3 DVDs (like WYOTK volume 1, 2, 3, etc...) and then we can all buy the volumes. You would probably end up selling almost the 600 DVDs (150 DVDs for each volume, three volumes is 450!!) So my suggestion, make a few DVDs and let us purchase ... (more)nick
I would not pay for the show, but I wouldn’t mind watching ten minutes of advertising and seeing 98% of wyotk.com plastered with more advertising, yeah I would definitely prefer it not to be that way, but if it brings the show back it’s worth it.

I have two hobbies I get paid for. I'm a computer geek, and I work in an IT department. Granted, the work I do in IT, isn't as much fun as working on my servers at home... but I do get paid for it. We realize that some people will "share" and have made no safeguards on the dvd to prevent it. The DVD will be NTSC video encoded for all regions. (It’s our understanding that most modern PAL DVD players can read NTSC but not the other way around. Please let us know if that is not the case.)

Hey! I know about your views on PayPal but, before I saw the PayPal show, I was the sucker and I have some money sitting in there that just wont come out. Is it possible to offer a PayPal option for those still stuck in their dirty evil grip? That is of course until I empty my account buying a dvd :).
